Actually, this is a cross-jurisdictional matter. In this case, there are two highways, one U.S. route and one state route, that share an alignment for a short distance. If you travel north on SR 7/U.S. 441, into Palm Beach County U.S. 441 turns west at State Road 80 near Wellinton and shares that east-west alignment with not only SR 80, but also U.S. 98, until you reach State Road 15 just north of Belle Glade, at which point U.S. 441 and U.S. 98 turn north and share the State Road 15 alignment until you reach the city of Okeechobee where they separate and follow their own alignments. This is not unique to Florida.

thank you for the information on the roads sharing the same alignment. It is confusing to visitors to the area having multiple names (and signs to match) for the same road. Also businesses have to have 1 address or the other on the ads, internet etc. to standardize signage, and save $ eliminating duplicate sets of signs for both numbers- I have 2 ideas- 1) can an arrangement be worked out with the state to use 1 designation for the road when they share the same alignment, or 2) possibly a better option would be to put both route numbers 7/441 on the same signs (that is how I've seen it in Ny and NJ when 2 roads combine for a short distance until they separate later on), that could help avoid confusion from the duplicate separate signs, and long tern save $ from maintaining 2 sets of signs, and less visitor confusion. as a side note I wanted to comment that we find the Florida local and state roads to be well maintained.
