Description
I am posting this here because I have tried to call the publicly listed numbers for Animal Control, but I’ve been unable to get a response.
The encampment in Lakeside Park across the street from 465 Bellevue Ave. seems to have acquired a number of chickens. These chickens probably weren’t in the park before; they may have been obtained elsewhere, or donated to the camp.
Also, one of the residents of the camp claims to have hunted and killed a turtle.
I realize that the City has for some time now decided it would be a good idea to allow people to live in the park, and there is nothing that anyone can do about that right now, but let’s please try to keep in mind the fact that Lake Merritt is supposed to be a wildlife sanctuary. No one is allowed to attack and abuse the animals there, nor should anyone be allowed to turn a public park into his own private barnyard.
