Description
Working at 5405 Windward Parkway for 4 years, I have often seen a potential life threatening issue to walking pedestrians at this intersection. Someone is going to get killed or significantly injured if something is not changed. The left turning lane from Westfield Dr is granted a green light (not a turning arrow) at the same time that the pedestrians are granted a walking signal (to have the right-way). I've witnessed many close calls and obnoxious drivers turning left from Westfield that do not seem to realize the pedestrians cross walking. It's not necessarily the first car that concerns me, but the 2nd to fourth cars, who are simply following the cars in front of them, or concerned about cross traffic, and not realizing the walking pedestrians. Please consider some kind of traffic signal change here, either stopping all traffic for pedestrians, or keeping the turning lane red until the walking light is allowed time for the pedestrians to walk. I've seen it too often from aggressive driver, and have been cursed out and honked at for yielding to pedestrians (even people with babies in strollers). Thank you for your consideration.
