Me and several other neighbors in this area have been reporting this to APD for months but APD have been ignoring the problem. Apparently APD no longer enforce the law in Alameda, which is why crime is going up on the island and we're seeing all these encampments springing up everywhere. Things will only continue getting worse as APD continues not enforcing laws and taking their jobs less and less seriously

Is there anything that can be done to get this lady into a shelter? She is causing a horrible odor for our business patrons.

She's been there all year and possibly longer. Me and like 20 other people ahve been reporting it to APD repeatedly for at least an entire year. APD just keeps ignoring it since they no longer enforce any laws on this island. Homeless camps are spreading all over the place. There's a lot of other homeless folks in this area too. They rotate between the benches by the antique shop, the news stand on the corner, and that grocery store across the street down on park

Thanks for doing nothing about this APD despite the fact that literally dozens of people have been reporting it to you all year

The Alameda Police Department strives to provide quality service to all community members with respect, concern, care, dignity, and equal treatment. We are aware of the on-going complaints regarding homeless encampments and the Alameda Police Department is working closely with the City’s Community Development Department to address, understand, and act on issues involving homelessness in Alameda. Homeless, in itself, is not a crime, although we are aware of the community impacts a homeless encampment creates. The Alameda Police Department strictly adheres to legal requirements before displacing a homeless encampment and simultaneously provides community and County resources in an effort to achieve a functioning zero homeless population for Alameda. The City of Alameda’s Coalition Advancing Resources, Efforts, and Support (CARES) for Alameda’s homeless was initiated in early 2018 (formerly the Homeless Outreach Team) with the purpose of bringing together Alameda organizations with the combined goal of addressing homelessness. These groups include the Community Paramedics Program, Homeless Liaison Officer program, Community Development Department, community-based social service providers, faith-based coalitions, and the Alameda Housing Authority.
