Description

Hello,
I’m writing to report a chronic problem in Woodruff Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11226 (cross Flatbush Avenue and E 21 Street).
A group of people act very annoying day and night: loud talking, drinking in the street, smoking, occasionally fighting, partying with loud music or using fireworks or blocking the street with a Van.

Every time we ask them to speak softer (in the middle of the night), because we cannot sleep, they act very aggressive, threatening us and then often being even more noisy on purpose.
We cannot sleep. That really affects our health, as scientifically proven, but most important, we don’t feel safe.
The group of people is usually casually dressed, they are about 8 people, black, mostly males, one woman. It’s always the same people, plus some homeless.

They spend most of their time, during night, at the “Woodruff Finest Grocery” Store, at 178 Woodruff Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11226.
During the day some of them spends their time also at the "Bubble Land Laundromat" (740 Flatbush Avenue) at the corner between Woodruff Avenue and Flatbush Avenue, next to the Woodruff Finest Grocery Store.

Unfortunately the Police seemed unhelpful so far, despite multiple law violations (loud talking, especially after 11pm, drinking in the streets, smoking, the threats, etc…).

Lately it's getting a little better, but only because of the cold. They still act like they own the block.

I called the 311 Yesterday at 10:23pm. The Police showed up more than 8 hours later... They've been noisy from around 8pm to 3am, I did't sleep at all, and the police showed up the day after, when I was already at work... It doesn't make any sense.
But being too noisy is illegal, especially after 11pm, threatening people is a crime as well as drinking and smoking in the street.
Someone have to do something about that. Urgently.
