While you are correct that there are policies in place that specifically deal with driveway encroachment and it was passed by the public works commission in 2016, driveway encroachment occurs and not enforce due to a lack of resources. Painting lines on the road delineating parking spaces would minimize driveway encroachment reports.
Why wont DPW paint lines? It just makes sense. Unless DPW plans on turning on street parking spaces into bike lanes.

The City requires three things to paint brackets near driveways:
1. A high rate of parking occupancy during peak times, at or above 90%.
2. A street travel width of 18 feet or less.
3. A documented history of multiple violations at a specific location.
This request does not meet the street width requirement; the travel width in this area is above 18 feet. Additionally, Staff looked at the last four months of data provided by the Police and there was not one violation at this address. In order to be considered for painting brackets, there needs to be a documented history; consequently DPW will not paint brackets near this driveway at this time. Please contact customer service directly at (802)863-9094 should you have any questions. The Department of Public Works has resolved this request. Thanks for helping to keep Burlington a great place to live and work.
