Much of the backup is a result of east bound traffic on Keystone Road wanting to turn north on East Lake Road, rather than wait 2 or 3 cycles for the left turn arrow they find it quicker to turn southbound on East Lake then do a u-turn at Maple Trace to go northbound on East Lake as originally desired. This also causes congestion and confusion at the East Lake/Maple Trace intersection.

The above occurs morning and evening rush hours.

Eastlake Road was never meant to be a highway for Pasco commuters who cannot afford to live in Pinellas, do not want to use US 19 or pay the expressway to commute from Pasco to St. Pete. Many residential cmmunities line Eastlake road. Commuters are wrecklessly driving and killing Pinellas County residents weekly along Eastlake. Please reduce the speed to 40 or 45 and allow no right turns. On red. The solution is not to widen the road. The solution is to live by your work.
