Description
This intersection should have a 4-way stop. Coming from Dayton to cross or turn onto Western is VERY dangerous, as it is difficult to see vehicles coming along Western Ave N. I regularly see near-accidents, and feel unsafe as a driver when turning or crossing. Also as a pedestrian, since drivers on Western Ave N. aren't required to stop, and pedestrians end up waiting awhile.

After living on Western for over a year, I’ve observed this about Western Ave N and Laurel, as well. An employee at urban village salon straight-up said she thought it was scary.
For pedestrians, it’s dangerous bc cars drive too fast, accelerating as they leave or approach the Selby intersection. Cars regularly enter and cross the Laurel intersection without pausing.
In a vehicle, turning onto Western from Laurel is dangerous for two reasons:
1) Western is a heavily used artery; with no 4-way stop sign on Western between Selby and Summit, cars often accelerate for the length between those two streets.
2) visibility is particularly bad for drivers of east-facing cars on laurel, as they try to turn north or south on Western (or just try to cross). Visibility has improved with the introduction of parking signage (so it’s clear to visitors to our vibrant neighborhood that they can’t park within ten feet of unmarked crossing, thus blocking the view), but it’s still blind compared to the speed of approaching vehicles.
Some kind of traffic calming infrastructure will slow traffic, resulting in overall safety, as well as better response time to counter visibility.

like overkill (no pun intended). How about one of those flashing push buttons for peds who really want
to cross.
