Your request regarding illegal parking has been closed.
I am the motor officer who does the parking enforcement, and have been a regular with emailing the city signs and signals department for the posting of "No parking anytime tow away" and the "6 hour recreational parking tow away" signs that you see up in various locations around the city. I even dig the post holes for the signs as well. King County Superior Court ruling does not allow for the 72 hour abandoned posting and towing of people squatting/camping in these vehicles. If they don't move, the only way to get them to move is to change the area, in this case the entire riverbank parking area on South 115th Street and on 42nd Avenue from South 116th Street all the way down to South 124th Street into a 6 hour recreation parking tow away zone. This would mean anyone parking along the river over 6 hours would be towed away. People could still stop and fish, thats what the signs are kinda for. Any residents storing vehicles along the river would have to deal with me towing them.
As soon as those signs are up I can get to work keeping the area clear. The PD unfortunately has no power to purchase and post these signs that enable me to help citizens with such parking problems. As soon as the city has these signs up I can address this problem, which I would do immediately.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep Tukwila a great place to live, work and visit!
