Description

The street tree closest to our mailbox at 1565 Northbrook Dr, Ann Arbor MI 48103 has many dying branches on the bottom branches. Seems like the tree might be slowly dying the way the bottom branches have all died but the upper branches are okay so far. Maybe trimming the dead branches and tee might give it a chance. Tree needs some care please.

I have been requesting inspection / pruning of the city-owned tree closest to my mailbox at 1525 Northbrook Dr. since 2014... This tree is live, but overgrown. Its brunches get snapped during trash pick-up, and lower branches have become a hazard for pedestrians / joggers.

Would someone please help me understand the purpose of this reporting system if an issue gets acknowledged, and then closed without any corrective action taken? I certainly understand that the city has to prioritize and schedule work. However, I would appreciate getting either an explanation why a particular work cannot or won't be completed, or a time estimate of when it will be done. Thanks.

I’m not clear why this issue was closed by the city. The dead branches have not been trimmed off so no resolution has been made. Not only do I want to give a chance for the tree to live if the dead branches get removed the tree, it’s a safety issue for those walking on the sidewalk as the dead branches break off during windy days and could potentially hit someone.

Street tree pruning on Northbrook St. began in July and all trees are scheduled to be pruned. Based on the number of trees on Northbrook that require pruning and other work priorities requiring the attention of City Forestry Crews this project is anticipated to take several months to complete.
