Thank you for talking with me this morning. I appreciate your understanding and willingness to connect me with people who may be able to help me make a change at IAA in the parking situation. I understand your attempt last year failed due to residents.

I understand, as a past resident near the hospital and a college, that resident parking is important. But there has to be some way to solve this. This current situation is not an equitable solution to parents.

I can tell you from a parents perspective...the parking is broken. It has also gotten worse over the years that we have been at IAA as more families are coming from outside the neighborhood, which is the whole point of making this a magnet school. At key pickup and drop off times there aren't a lot of options, the ones available are not legal. I was under the impression...and I'm not sure exactly how...perhaps other parents, that there was some flexibility around these key times but today showed me that that is just not true. I picked up my pre-k student at 11 and left at 11:15 after talking for a few minutes to connect with her teachers and other parents and I had a ticket on my car. That is the fastest ticketing I've experienced to date.

I'm angry. Very angry. What are parents supposed to do I wonder? I can't afford this. I want my children to attend IAA. I live across town. It's not realistic for our family to rely on biking or walking. I know there are many many parents in the same situation as I am and some have told me that they are resigning themselves to tickets. I don't have that luxury...I presume they don't really either (financially speaking) but perhaps they have even less time to take on what I can only assume will be a lengthy process. I also don't really have the bandwidth for this either but I am just so mad...here I am.
