Gap in sidewalk along bus route with many children using this route to walk to public schools. Poor driver visibility at the top of the hill leading to high risk of accident

The City’s Capital Improvements Plan includes water main replacement and street resurfacing on Brooks Street scheduled for fiscal year 2023 (beginning 07/01/2023). It is planned to include sidewalk on at least one side of Brooks for pedestrian access all the way to Sunset in conjunction with the water main and street paving project.

Thanks so much for your response. Unfortunately, 5 years from now is a long way off for this safety issue. Is there a way to expedite this process?

I agree 5 years is way too long to wait for a sidewalk. Many young children walk this route to the elementary and middle school and it is unsafe, especially with the bus traffic. It is also the way many access the hiking trails off sunset. How can we move the process along?

I agree with other posts. This is a safety concern with kids walking to school along this route. I also agree that 5 years seems too long given the risks.

I just saw this request. I agree. We need to compete the sidewalks on brooks and also in Bydding st. There are a ton of kids in the neighborhood now and more and more are moving in. This is a critical pedestrian safety issue.
