Description

The 3-block stretch of Webster Ave between Paterson Plank Rd and South St is used as a bypass for traffic to/from Union City during rush hour to avoid Palisade Ave.

Because the signals at Webster and congress, and Webster and South seem to be timed to expedite this through traffic, there is a lot of speeding. I often see private vehicles, but also commercial passenger vehicles (dollar vans), as well as commercial trucks driving at 30,35 and even 40 mph in what is a 25 mph zone on a residential street. Many northbound vehicles roll through or simply ignore the stop sign at the top of the hill (congress and north). the only reason more accidents dont happen is because its a 4-way stop.

This whole stretch of road is a major thoroughfare, has been neglected fora long time, and should get a safety evaluation as part of the new Vision Zero campaign.
