Our poor neighborhood has become hostage to all of this construction & workers parking all over the single family house area. Wandering around all of our houses. So intrusive. We just had a burgurly on Bay & 94th last week, DURING THE DAY, by a man dressed in workers clothing. Who is looking out for the residents that actually libe here & would like to keep our neighborhood safe.

Called police and they said they have a permit. We need Town representatives that care about the existing residents, not just new developers. Where exactly is all of the new money going anyway?

candidates were at Mirage Wednesday night for an open house meet and greet. looking for votes. what a slap in the face, they approve this development and allow the permits. this town use to be a quiet lovely retreat, now it has buildings the size of cruise ships.

Yes I heard they were at the Mirage for a meet and greet, but if you look at the building being built next door to them there are only 16 units at 5,500 sq ft and above. Si Mirage was lucky in that respect but they have not been good neighbors to Mirage I'm the building process. I heard they were not compensated for their trouble. The Town cannot be held responsible when business people buy property and develop it. They should be held responsible for renourishing and cleaning up our beach and Town. And treating everyone fairly and equally. Providing great services. Sometimes we hold responsible the wrong people. Employees of the Town sometimes create situations that adversely affect our Town without the knowledge of the Towns elected officials.

We received a notice from our building manager that they're pouring again tomorrow, Monday March 26 at 6am. The last time they did it, they were nearly complete with the concrete pour at 2pm and did a ton of other work until after 6pm (though were told to end at 4pm). When we contacted various city officials during the last 6am wakeup concrete pour, we were told they applied for a permit but it was never approved. Someone needs to press the Town Building officials to stop favoring these new developers and causing issues for current residents. Even when they are contacted they ignore our pleas, plus we're getting pressed into meeting current building standards in our older buildings. Causing a ton of unnecessary work and expense, just because one person wants to bully us. Someone needs to look into this and hold him accountable. There is no justification for 6am start times...he is helping these new developers and many in our building are suspicious why that is!

I thought work was not supposed to go on past 5 o’clock now it’s going till seven 7:30 starting up at 5 AM. It’s miserable for the people that live here.

If they ask for special hours for concrete pours they should only do concrete pour that make minimum noise. Contractor is taking advantage of our residents. Town is taking advantage of our residents. They are using the concrete pour as an excuse to get extra work done in the construction site, when they don't need it because they can pour within the Town lawfully passed work times

Agree. My residence faces the work site, so I have been watching their violations every day since demolitions, which included having no dust screen at for months and their demo created so much dirt caked on our building because while they had a water hose person who was suppose to point at the demo site to contain airborn dust, the guy rarely aimed it properly to have any affect. The air quality here over the past year is horrible and balconies have not been used for over a year. Hurricane shutter and sliding glass door tracks are caked with dust every day, no matter how much they are cleaned. And, the developers have given nothing to neighboring buildings to remedy this. So, yes...the building officials need to start caring for the existing residents whom have been paying taxes for decades to pay for their jobs.

Please post the follow-up action that was taken by the Town's Building Official. Did it result in compliance with the rules by the contractor?

The building officials allow the contractors to have the only say when it pertains to building special hours. They do not request input from the constructions neighboring buildings. Maybe Surfside needs to change.

It's interesting to watch their pour today, versus the last one. They've been much slower with pouring the concrete, while working expediently in other areas around the building. The last time they started at 6am they were nearly complete by 2pm. And, our building complained that they were completed early, so clearly they're being more strategic about the timing this time. The fact is that the bottom 4 floors were poured between 8a-6p hours. But, the higher floors (which are smaller, as it tiers inward) they are claiming they need 6a-6p to pour appropriately. It's a sham. They're just trying to complete the other work, by cheating using the excuse that concrete needs to be poured at once. A complete sham, people. Someone in the buildings office needs to compare the past floors, with this one. And, protect the community.
