Description
New LED lights good idea, HORRIBLE outcome. Houses, neighborhoods FLOODED with light at night. Way too much. No sense of the night. Health issues. Need to replace shades. Would never want to buy property with light that intense. Actually thought of moving to the country!

I am not able to locate the comment below from the verified official, but here is some information from Portland's website that may be helpful to the original poster (https://www.portlandmaine.gov/2149/LED-Streetlight-Conversion):
"As part of the project technicians are installing an advanced control network that will allow City staff to control the light output of each fixture. This will allow us to implement a dimming protocol that will reduce consumption of electricity and prevent light pollution. In residential neighborhoods the streetlights will be set at approximately 70% output during the evening but will roll back to between 30% - 50% output during the overnight. Until the network is completed lights will be at full output. We should have basic functionality by the end of February that will allow basic dimming. Implementing this type of control system will put Portland at the forefront of municipal lighting technology."
