This is something you should bring up with your councilperson.

I'd also like laws enforced and penalties/fines issued. If caught littering, 3 hours of community service cleaning up debris. Dog pee and poo is out of control.

Some of this is a result of sanitation workers that don't pick up all the trash on pickup days.

We have brought it up to Council persons, VNA, etc... I agree that some is a result of sanitation but MOST of us are decent individuals and if there were an actual trash can to deposit garbage into, it may reduce the amount left on the sidewalks. Tonight I carried trash from my own children 7 blocks before a trash can appeared.

I walked the north side of 5th Street between Monmouth and Coles last weekend and picked up 2 plastic shopping bags worth of trash and almost 2 bags of recyclable items. That doesn't include all of the cigarette butts. I agree that the Division of Sanitation may be partly to blame for not effectively collecting the trash and letting some spill back onto the sidewalk and streets, but the rest is us or visitors. We need to get out there and clean the catch basins and the sidewalks if we want our neighborhood to look respectable. Its easier to toss trash when there's already a bunch on the ground.

A trash can on monmouth and 1st would definitely be used given how many high school kids walk past that corner....

As per Inspector Smith, the above mentioned location was inspected on 1/16/18. The inspector will issue a summons to the property owner.
