Description
Our hilly street is still a mess, with lots of snow, and cars struggle to get up the hill in front of our house. Yesterday the mail truck could not get up the hill. Could it please be plowed, and in the future could it please be sanded regularly.

Thank you for submitting a request. We are moving through the city to plow local streets and have not yet reached your area. The warm-up, followed by cold nights and damp conditions caused slick conditions on all the roadways throughout the region and our focus was redirected to treat major roadways. Conditions will continue to be slick because of the wet days and cold nights so drivers must exercise extreme caution.
Please note that the City does not treat to bare pavement. Additionally, for small (<4”) events we only apply sand on local streets as needed (not on every local street). Visit www.a2gov.org/snow for more information on our practices

It has long become obvious that snow plowing is related more to garbage pickup date rather than how much snow falls. Usually the plow arrives the day before garbage pick up. Thank you for adjusting this from Thursday to Friday this past week. Morningside is a hilly street with a curve. The accumulated snow was more than
4 inches and the snow had not been cleared from curb to curb this season and this too added to the total.
It is really frustrating to be held to cleaning every one inch snow fall from sidewalks while the city seems to have a policy that is one size fit all for street cleaning that lets them off the hook as a response. Fortunately a third neighbor “called the city” and talked to someone who perceived the policy as not one size fits all and did her best to clear a dangerous mess as well as assist our wonderful mail lady who toils up and down our street and did not also need to have her job made more difficult.
