Description
I'd like to file a complaint about the traffic in front of the Michigan Union during peak times M-F as classes let out. The crosswalk in front of the Union and Angell Hall has always been an issue during the school year, but it has gotten particularly egregious as of late. Today, I sat for 15 minutes at the stop sign, heading north on State St., while I waited for a constant stream of students crossing to let up enough for traffic to start moving. Given the Ann Arbor pedestrian crossing laws, there seems to be no recourse for cars to do anything but sit there waiting for traffic to clear. This seems like a perfect place to install a HAWK, or other type of device. Due to the fact that traffic was at a standstill, busses were doing shady things to try to get through, and pedestrians were darting in between cars that were at a standstill. Not only has it become and infuriating intersection to drive through, but it is not safe.
