When considering the possibility of a traffic signal at a given location, we are required to follow the guidelines set forth in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); which is a federally mandated document used nationally and adopted by Maryland and its jurisdictions. It outlines minimum requirements (referred to as warrants) to ensure that traffic signals are used where they are found to be justified through a comprehensive and objective analysis. Recent 13-
hour volume counts along with warrant analysis completed at the subject location has determined that the requirements for a signal are not met at this time. However, please be assured that your comments have been noted and we will continue to monitor the location for further improvements.
