In addition to not being secured, work has not been restarted on this house since it was gutted and changed ownership earlier this year (with the exception of their removing the fence). It is a long-time blighted property that needs to be addressed by the city.
This was referred to DPW for securing five days ago. It is on their list of city properties to be secured. Sometimes it takes a few days. I will refer it to Doug Carlucci again.
I sent this email to the director of buildings and streets today.
Doug,
Maybe you forgot my emails or my call last week but I really need 80 Bowers secured. The constituents keep complaining on See Click FIX.
Please make this a priority and let me know when it is secure.
I tried reaching the owner of the property owners yesterday afternoon at the phone number we have. I will continue to follow up with DPW to make sure they secure this property. Regarding the permits, I suggest you contact the construction code official Ray Meyer at the building department 201-547-5000.
I pointed out the inspector activity because it means that someone from the city had been there recently, and should know how to reach the owner. But yes, this property has very old open permits.
The current request to secure the property has been open nearly a month, and the owner should be fined for not complying. If DPW is responsible, it is ridiculous that this building has not been secured in a reasonable time frame. In prior years, requests to clean up/secure this property were handled within *days*, not weeks. (This property has been a blight and nuisance for many years.)

(4)Any other action required or necessary to render the building or structure safe and in a habitable condition.
Still unsecured. JCPD came to house tonight as it was wide open on both the top and bottom floors. There is no lock on the front door, and only a piece of plywood blocking the basement door. Why doesn't this owner have to comply with city ordinance?
Unsecured and front door open from at least 10 p.m. yesterday through this morning. The non-emergency police number has been called multiple times on this property by multiple neighbors since teenagers/others have been seen inside at night. Guess the owner doesn't care, and it seems Jersey City doesn't either -- it's now almost April, and this ticket has been open since October.

A city inspector approved a permit for the address on 10/5/17. https://www.sdlportal.com/towns/nj/hudson/jerseycity/properties/2205/45
The current request has been open nearly a month. Has the owner been issued a warning or summons?
