Description
The 400 & 500 block of East Howard Ave is missing the center stripe. It seems this was not redone when the street was repaved in some sections.

I hope these stripes are *never* applied.
It is not at all clear, that is, what *safety* purpose they would serve.
When cities double-yellow neighborhood streets like this they send the following message: drivers should treat this road as if it is a highway. This is where these double-yellow lines belong -- highways.
Neighborhood streets should receive as little striping and as few signs as possible.
Study after study (not that anyone cares about facts) have shown that the *fewer* the road treatments applied, the safer the street. It does sound counter-intuitive. The lack of striping affects driving behavior toward the more-cautious, which should always be the goal.
