Description

The sidewalk for almost the entire length of Prescott Street has been ruined by R J Devereaux while replacing gas lines. The concrete sidewalks that were in good condition, now have an uneven asphalt patch running down the middle of them. The patch is not on grade with the concrete with as much as a 4 inch difference in grade between the concrete and asphalt.

How is the city being compensated for the poor repairs? Medford has a tough enough time taking care of the naturally aging sidewalks and streets that we shouldn't have to also re-repair work done by the utility companies. Does the city have a standard for how repairs are to be completed? Maybe an ordinance can be made that if a utility is digging up more than 1/4 of a sidewalk/street they need to repave the whole street? Or for every square foot the utility digs up they need to contribute to a city fund that the city can use to repave streets 10 square feet.

Fall 2016 R J Devereaux replaced pipework in West Medford Square leaving the road in terrible shape as of August 2017.

In Spring 2017 R J Devereaux has replaced gas lines on Monument Street, also leaving the road in worse shape than when they started the work.
