Another place were shrubs and small trees prevent people from walking on the sidewalk is at 410 Shelburne Road. The property owner needs to keep this area clear so people don't have to walk on the grass strip next to the road because they can't use the sidewalk.
The same conditions of small trees blocking the sidewalk occurs at 434 Shelburne Rd. The owner of that property needs to trim things back so people can walk by their property without having to leave the sidewalk. This condition has been this way for several weeks!
I was just here today and the hedges most definitely have not been trimmed. They are also in need of trimming at the property next door, which is 385 Shelburne St. A single pedestrian can barely get by on the sidewalk. Attached is a photo taken the afternoon of 7/25.
This was completed in phases with the crosswalk signal being uncovered first by the parks department crew. They cleared the overgrowth at the intersection after the initial report.
The problem at the sidewalk spanned two different properties. The first of those two properties is a rental property and it was cleaned up in early August.
The homeowner at the corner did not receive our written notice until he returned to town two weeks ago. The sidewalk in front of that property is being cleared today.
The people at 434 Shelburne road have trimmed their area which I appreciate very much. They however stopped at their property line. That means that 410 Shelburne Road needs to trim their shrubs and hedge before the sidewalk can be completely opened to the public. I brought this issue up with South Burlington and they contacted 434 but not 410. Both businesses are in South Burlington so this issue is still a problem.
This reported issue was at the corner of Flynn and Shelbourne Road at 377 Shelburne Road. This issue was resolved so the request is being closed again.
