Description
Eastbound on Colchester Ave just just after the East Ave light, the road is a complete mess, and has been for over 6 months!!! Repeated attempts to patch it have made it worse. Now it is a mass of holes and lumps with gravel and chunks of pavement everywhere. This has become lethal for cyclists. I come through here every night on the way home from work, and am terrified every time. I've taken to jumping the light before it turns green and crossing the center line into oncoming traffic, because this is safer than trying to ride through the potholes. This is a very narrow lane, so cars force bikes to the right, into gravel and holes, making it almost impossible to avoid crashing. And when it rains it's even worse. I emailed Steve Cormier at DPW for the second time on 3/31, but got no response. Very disappointed this wasn't dealt with when East Ave was just re-surfaced around the corner.

Issue acknowledged.
Jeremy,
Please forward the automated message you received to me at wward@burlingtonvt.gov
The message you describe that says Public Works “only repairs holes that damage vehicles” is not what the DPW automated message is. I set the Automated messages for the city and I can send you the exact language if you would like.
The DPW automated message says they will make after hours or "Emergency" repairs if a pothole is large enough to damage a vehicle. This means they repair all others on a complaint basis within a few days.
Thank you.
