Description
There is no reason why the mobile warning sign in the middle of SE Depot Ave. east of S. Main roundabout should already (prematurely) mention a detour at SE 7th Ave because no work is being done and there are no detour signs ahead! If they MUST warn people of upcoming construction, why not put an activation DATE on the sign like they do on other warning signs? The current warning must also be very confusing for people who are not familiar with the way Depot Ave. becomes SE 7th Ave. east of 7th St.

Good afternoon and thank you for expressing your concern regarding the construction signage. The Portable Changeable Message Sign is placed in the middle of Depot Avenue as you described to give advanced notice of the road closure which is current set up at the 1000 block of SE Depot Avenue / SE 7th Avenue for the creek culvert replacement work. A date is not included on the sign as it is a current closure. In the very near future, work will begin at the SE 7th Street intersection and the detour will be setup utilizing SE 3rd Street and SE 4th Avenue. I share your concern regarding potential confusion on the transition of the road name from Depot Ave to SE 7th Ave. Unfortunately with limited characters available on the sign, it was determined this was the most informative setup. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may about this project.
