The City does not install any deer crossing signs because we have no designated deer crossings.

The City has no designated deer crossings YET -- but would you agree that someone who lives in the area (as opposed to you, who likely doesn't), who has seen many, many deer crossing in a certain area is able to identify a popular crossing area? I think you would agree the people mentioned above have knowledge you don't have... and can therefore determine a popular deer crossing area. You should take their word on it.

This is a case of trusting the community to supply you with intel you are not gathering. I would like to see the City step up and acknowledge the community's expertise in this area and work with them to designate it. Thank you.

The City has not in the past installed deer crossing signs on the island. However, part of the justification for lowering speed limits throughout the island last year was to prevent these types of collisions. The City will continue to monitor this situation, including requesting information from the BIPD on the frequency of vehicle-wildlife collisions on this stretch of roadway.
