Alley/Road Repair - It has been more than a couple weeks since the last hard flash storm we had experienced and I hoped the city would get to repairing the alley that was mostly washed out between 4705 Burlington Ave N and 4721 Burlington Ave N. This has been an ongoing problem every 3 to 4 months for the years that I have noticed, and likely very much longer. In my opinion, the engineer responsible for handling this ongoing issue deserves a FAIL for the countless "band-aid" solutions to this problem. Not only is this a waste of money, but over time far exceeds the cost of properly addressing the problem and implementing a permanent, or at the very least a long term solution. I'm sure this will likely be ignored, but I thought I would offer some sources for information that can be further researched for the engineers responsible for tackling problems such as this. Have they thought about the use of "Porous Asphalt" such as discussed in this article: https://phys.org/news/2015-05-stormwater-cities-dont-flush-rainwater.html Surely, it could be incorporated in many of St Pete's water issues and used on new projects. An even better approach, especially with regard to this alley repair, would be the use of "Pervious Concrete" as discussed here: https://sourceable.net/pervious-concrete-offers-host-benefits/ In honor of Earth Day, and in my own attempt to lead the proverbial horse to water, I hope these comments do not go unnoticed.
