Requests for many transportation issues, including stop signs, curb painting, and traffic calming measures, typically require 8-12 weeks to complete before staff can develop a recommendation. These requests involve review of current plans and policies, compilation of accident and/or other history, coordinating with Alameda Police and other stakeholders, outreach to residents or others who may be affected by the proposed change, on-site data collection and analysis, and sometimes consultation with outside experts. We will follow up with you about your request when your request is at the top of the queue. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, there is a backlog of these requests and they are being handled in the order of receipt. Due to that backlog, some requests may take six months to a year to complete the analysis and recommendation. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I second this. I've nearly been rear-ended turning left onto Eagle from Sherman several times because the intersection is blocked and because people tend to speed up quite a bit when heading that direction. I think they assume the 25 MPH limit no longer applies.

Something needs to be done and thank you Kim for reporting this. I can attest that during the red lights to Sherman at Buena Vista, vehicles are backed up from Buena Vista all the way around the curve by the old Alameda Belt Line buillding.

Traveling N on Sherman, trying to turn left onto Eagle to get to my residence, vehicles are blocking access (& egreas) and most don't seem to pay attention to my turn signal, I always use a hand signal as well, however 2 lanes are forming southbound on Sherman, 1 lane for the left turn onto B.V., and the other lane either to turn R on eastbound B.V. or continue proceeding straight ahead on southbound Sherman. This means that though the lane of vehicles nearest to me will yield sometimes (not always) - most often the line of vehicles intending to continue straight ahead on Sherman or turn R on B.V. will be oblivious to the fact that there is someone attempting to turn L on Eagle. One runs the risk of getting creamed by that 2nd line of cars they speed around the curve by the Belt Line.

When cars back up due to someone trying to turn L onto Eagle, I have also witnessed vehicles headed towards Marina Village stopped at the light on Sherman and B.V. even when turns green because they don't want to block the intersection ("block the box" they call it in S.F.) on B.V...yet the cars behind them don't know what the problem is and start with the honking and profanities as they see a green light and don't know why the car isn't moving.

Traffic is a nightmare here at this particular spot & the TLC development is hardly off the ground.

Also, auto-reply boilerplate from the City is not very reassuring. If the City of Alameda does not have the money to mitigate traffic problems, then why do they continue to okay more and more traffic?

And that is a year to even develop a recommendation, the actual mitigation -- if there is one -- could take years.

Who is in charge here?

Dear City, this continues to be a daily problem and will certainly get worse when the housing is finished at Del Monte and those drivers move in. Stand on the corner during the commute time in the evening and you'll see what we mean. Cars are forming two lanes and blocking the intersection when the light goes red a block up. When that senior housing is done, those cars will be trying to enter the street right at this intersection we're talking about. Please paint "keep clear" in that intersection before those people move in. If you want the road to become two lanes, you'll need to create those lanes or put up a sign that it's just one lane. But something needs to improve. Thank you.

the worthless city government will probably never do anything about this. They don't care about anything. Just like they don't care about my neighbor blocking our driveway and using our driveway without permission (been reporting it to APD since april 2018, they just ignore and close my requests claiming its a "civil issue" even though its not), just like they dont' care about someone trespassing on our property and stealing from it every week for a year and a half straight (not even slightly kidding), just like they don't care about all the garbage dumping and homeless encampments at marina village ( I have a request open about it from 6 months ago and people have been reporting it for like 5 years now, they don't care and are still ignoring it as the garbage piles get larger every day) the city could literally not care less about any of us, they dont care about our community most of them dont even live here. the officials all live in places like danville far away from here in nice rich cushy neighborhoods that are patrolled by private security and have literally none of the problems our community has. they couldnt care less about us. never forget im sure theyll probably censor this comment soon. never forget this folks. the city couldnt care less about you because they are a pure swamp of evil

impeach the mayor, impeach the police chief, fire the alameda city government and start over, completely from scratch. fire them all and replace them with all-new officials who actually live in our city and care about what goes in our neighborhoods. that is the only solution. revolt now
