Thank you for reporting. I recall we did take a look last year at this concern as well however when we had staff test the button, it was working correctly. The button should activate the signals to change in a reasonable amount of time. The signals may not change immediately depending on the timing of system in the sequence/phase. We will check the button to see if it is properly activating the signal system. A follow up response will be completed through this Humboldt Connect system. Thank you.

We tested all buttons and they are working correctly. When the light has just changed back to green on highway 5 there is about a 32 second delay when the pedestrian button is pushed before it will turn back to Amber, then Red. This is to keep traffic moving while balancing pedestrian needs. This amount of time may seem longer when standing there and may be the root of the concern. Please monitor and if the sequence lasts significantly longer than that please let us know again. Thank you.

Thank you for checking in to this. When we use the crosswalk on the side closest to the school the light on the button beeps and lights up. When we push the button on the other side of the street we get no response that the button had been pushed, no beep and no red light to indicate that the button had been pushed. I just assumed that both lights worked the same. I will definitely check it out now that I know that it is working.
