Description
An apartment complex named Bacarra opened recently at this intersection. A left turn lane which turns into the apartment complex was added on Cary Towne Blvd heading towards Raleigh/Western Blvd as part of this apartment complex being built. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen vehicles blow right through this left turn without stopping at all, some not even slowing down. I'm guessing they aren't noticing the stop sign way over to the right, and don't realize it's a 4-way stop. The stop sign could probably be difficult to see when vehicles are in the straight through lane, but I've seen this happen with no vehicles in the straight through lane or anything else blocking the view of the stop sign from that left turn lane. I've almost been hit two times in the last two weeks because of vehicles in this left turn lane not stopping, after I've come to a complete stop on Farm Gate Rd and then continue on with my left turn onto Cary Towne thinking they're going to stop - and then the person on Cary Towne making the left turn fusses at me when they're in the wrong for not stopping. The most recent incident was this past Monday, April 3. I was making a left onto Cary Towne and stopped on Farm Gate. A semi truck was approaching in the left turn lane into the apartment complex, I thought he was stopping so made my left turn, and he almost hit me because he wasn't planning on stopping for the 4-way stop like he was supposed to. That latest incident was witnessed by a co-worker of mine who happened to be behind me in her car. Something really needs to be done about this intersection before a wreck happens (if one hasn't happened already). I don't know whether that should be better signage, 4-way flashers, or a full traffic signal light - but it needs something other than what's currently there.

I complained about the exact same thing last year to See, Click, Fix. I asked that the stop line be repainted on Cary Towne Blvd at that intersection. I also asked that the vegetation be cut back, and to indicate on all 4 stops signs that it is a 4-way stop.
You see how far that got!!!
The city said that Cary Towne Blvd was not in the city of Raleigh, but was covered by DOT. They gave me the contract information. I filled out the online form, got a reference number, and waited. A couple of months later, I went to the DOT website and entered the number and it was invalid. Imagine that.
I don't care whose jurisdiction it is, it ALL needs to be fixed NOW.
I, too, have had too many close calls by those turning left into that apartment complex. I was almost t-boned by a dump truck that didn't stop. And like you, it is a weekly occurrence. Heaven help any pedestrians at that intersection.

I saw the police car sitting there the other morning, too. As I approached the intersection, a car from the apartment complex rolled through the stop sign, right in from of the police car, and was immediately pulled over.
I agree, a 4 way flashing light would be the best bet.
I believe the only time cars actually come to a complete stop, is when another car has right of way. Most cars roll through the stop sign. On many occasions I have seen people actually blow right through the intersection and it's not because they didn't see the signs.
It is way past time this serious issue was fixed.

Controls at the intersection or the addition of a signal must be done in consultation with NCDOT. City staff will work with their counterparts at the state to review this location for possible changes.

Thank you for what you have done, which is about as minimal as you can get. Yes, the stop lines were repainted and very small signs were added to the stop sign that read, "ALL WAY." And by small I mean tiny. They are so small you will miss them If you aren't looking for them.
No "flags" we're put anywhere and I can't see where any vegetation was cut back and I just went through the intersection not 5 minutes ago. Just say the word and I'll get my chainsaw and do it for you, gladly.
