The roads are not wide enough now with the big bike lanes. I've only seen one biker use the bike lanes during rush hour traffic, yet cars are jammed up on the streets (Wilmington) and back into the parking decks every day. Buses need to be re-routed.

Even if you take out the bike lanes, that's only 4-6' of pavement and you're not going to add any additional 10-12' lanes. So not exactly sure that is the problem.

The problem with Wilmington Street is that there is actually a GoTriangle bus stop there. So buses start/end there - I agree with you that if they are blocking crosswalks, they need to find a new bus stop.

The two problem spots I always see while visiting clients downtown are when buses turn from Wilmington onto Davie (not enough room, they force cars stopped at light to back up so they can fit... not safe. And same exact thing happens to buses turning right off Wilmington onto Hargett St. They dont fit around the corners, especially since the vehicles are supposed to merge right into the rightest lane with the broken lines of the bike path to make a right turn. its impossible. its so poorly executed you wonder what they were thinking. the problems would be fixed if the buses just continued straight and did right turns on streets where there is more room on the destination street like perhaps where they turn right onto a one way street like Morgan. it just makes sense.
