Description
Drivers turning from Spring Street onto High Street at this intersection often cut off pedestrians who are crossing in the crosswalk, even with the with the pedestrian walk signal clearly showing -- and despite signage stating that motorists are required to yield, in accordance with State law. The traffic light should be re-programmed so that drivers have to wait at red lights while pedestrians have unimpeded crossing time. This intersection poses a genuine safety hazard to pedestrians because of drivers' constant failure to yield and the speed at which they make the turn onto High Street (apparently hoping to catch a green light at the next - High and Congress Street - corner). It is a pedestrian accident waiting to happen.

i like it when i see groups of pedestrians start to cross and force the cars to wait and let them cross.
it is the millennials who think the world owes them something that are in a bug hurry to go know where:)
but i agree the light should be changed back to the way it was.
Originally you had a full 15 seconds to cross before the lights turned green and even then many impatient motorists would try to push past the light and turn left.
would love to see what they would do if a cop was at that intersection for a few days:)

the crossing at high street and spring street is proof of it.
Even back when it was a 4 way red light when you got the walk signal cars would still try to turn on red and it was dangerous back then.

Paulec252 Pedestrians have the right of way the DRIVERS should get off the phone and DRIVE and exersize some pacents.
I witnessed a typical MALE in a oversize truck who thought he owned the road chase a women down the road because HE had to wait omg 15 seconds for the light to countdown and the person cross in the cross walk.

No simple fix for this ongoing problem:)
And the more millennials and teenagers join the driving world the WORSE it will get.
