Thank you for submitting your request to the Howard County Department of Public Works\Traffic Engineering. Our staff will investigate this issue and respond.
That seems like even more of a reason to have traffic calming. Aren't Eliots Oak Rd, Cradlerock etc. also major collector roadways to 108 and Broken Land? They both have traffic calming. It's impossble to be "healthy howard" citizens if we cant safetly walk to HCC for classes or the bus station, two reasons I liked this area as I take classes at HCC and walk/take public transportation when possible. Thank you.
What about a crosswalk attached to a light? There is a lot of traffic in and out of HCC at peak times. The light could control traffic at peak times and then blink the rest of the time if not signaled by a pedestrian. This is a key intersection for walkability of the area. The county's plan should take into consideration but vehicle AND pedestrian traffic.
Crazy I can be in a car accident due to a speeder hitting me while I'm waiting to turn, my family has been almost hit crossing the street walking to the Doctors and HCC many times, too, and we aren't candidates because we are a major pass through? We didn't used to be and back then crime was lowe, too. I bet traffic calming would help many issues from speeding, safety of pedestrians and even keep scum from pulling off of 29 to deal drugs in our townhouse lots because they would have to drive more slowly. It is so busy here now with HCC and it never was this bad before, I've lived in the area all my life. I just can't fathom nothing can help us. This issue alone is enough for us to move. Don't you want to keep residents such as teachers with kids and a family in this area? It is the #1 reason we want to leave. If this single issue was resolved we would stay :(
