Description
Now that the leaves are mostly gone from the North Amherst Common and the Pine Street repaving project is virtually complete, can the DPW do some tree work on the North Amherst Common?
I have written a number of times about tree branches that have broken off from the maple trees by the bus stop on the North Amherst common. My house is directly behind the bus stop and the trees overhang our lawn and driveway. There are a number of branches that have broken from these trees. One is broken and hanging straight down near the bench, secured by attached bark. In higher winds, I can see it swing. Another has broken completely off and is balanced on another branch. This branch is directly over the electric wires that feed our house and our driveway. One of our cars is typically parked underneath this branch. You could argue that since the branches haven’t fallen yet, they are secure. However, they present a danger to those underneath these trees in the event that they do fall, not to mention any property damage due to downed wires and tree branches. There are other trees with similar issues.
In checking my emails, I have been writing to the DPW since 2012 about these issues.
