Update from Parks & Recreation: Thank you for your suggestion. After much consideration and discussion, a master plan has been presented to the community for future renovations to Fossil Park. This will include the moving of the fire station (which is scheduled to be rebuilt in the next year), but unfortunately the plan does not include a dog park. The primary concern is that there is not enough space for a dog park to be built properly. Additionally, in previous conversations with the neighborhood association, they have indicated that the majority of the residents do not support the addition of a dog park. We appreciate your input, and if an opportunity presents itself in the future to accommodate a dedicated dog area there, we will certainly consider it. Thanks again.
Area residents use the park multiple times daily and often turn their dogs loose, which is in violation of City code. Are we to be calling Code Enforcement to issue civil citations for every instance ? This would be wasteful & divisive. I attended the recent 'master plan' meeting. Why is there enough room to expand the seasonal pool, add another ball field & add a parking structure, but no room to accommodate our pets ?
Update from Parks & Recreation: you are welcome to call 727-893-7441 to discuss the outcome of the planning discussions that have already been undertaken with respect to Fossil Park.
