Description

There is a crosswalk outside our house that goes across Washington Street and is widely used by pedestrians to access Washington Circle and the adjacent Central Street. Despite the fact that this crosswalk was recently painted, cars never stop for pedestrians and instead speed right through, which makes crossing the street in the crosswalk treacherous. Can a sign be placed somewhere to alert drivers coming from both directions on Washington Street that there is a crosswalk and that they are lawfully obligated to stop for pedestrians?

I HAVE CALL POLICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY SAY NOT CAN DO . ITS BEEN CRAZY SPEED LIMIT LIMIT SPEED IS 35 BUT CAR GO OVER 45 . BUT 45 ITS ON STORE DRIVE BOSTON OR HIGHWAY. CAR NEVER STOP TO PEDESTRIAN. LAST ACCIDENT BETWEN WASHINGTON ST AND MILL ST INVOLVED 3 CARS . EVERYONE MY NEIGHBOR SAY SAMETHING THEY SCARED . BUT POLICE HAVE SAME ANSWER NOT WE CAN DO .

There are not any white lines to show the crosswalk. I live at 226 Washington and it is a tough place to cross because cars are flying down the street.

I wholeheartedly agree with the person who submitted this issue. It is very difficult to cross Washington Street at this location and at the crosswalk in front of the former St. Joseph's Church. You take your life into your hands trying to cross at either place.

Went for a jog a week back used that crosswalk...felt like I was running through a highway, I no longer use that that route for walks/jogging, too dangerous. The entire area is too congested and people are on edge so they speed when they can, I am looking at moving.

after possible new housing development. eight hundred now. street has many small children in area.

Same situation on Washington st continue. Speed limit . its more more danger we have to do something between 171 & 235 its crazy. I.have many videos they neve stop om cross walk because they go so fast special truck in the morning . Last time police say gonna take look but i never see they checking speed limit.. imagine 45 mph on city .

The crosswalk between Richard Cir and the USPS has all but disappeared as a result of the MWRA work.

I agree with the persons concerns. You can't even cross over in a car never mind on foot. My daughter goes to the Goodyear & plans on meeting her friends on Washington in the next year or 2 to walk to school - I hope something can be done. There is an elementary school on central & I see a lot of parents walking on Washington street in the morning, it's extremely dangerous.
