Thank you, Lisa. I agree.. Makes me sick to my stomach to think about. We try to do the right thing and we create very little regular trash and to think all of that possibly gone to waste.

The Woburn Board of Health will contact waste management to address the missed trash and recycling ASAP. The BOH number for future issues with recycling or trash is _781-897-5923. Well, that's a bummer. "anonymous", if you don't mind posting what you find out from your phone call with Mayor Galvin back here (assuming you make the call), for the edification of all the SeeClickFix Woburn followers, that would be great.

The Health Agent Jack Fralick went out to the residence. He went to take the yard waste to dispose of it and the bag broke because it was filled with dirt and dog feces, please for future only put a reasonable amount of compostable waste (leaves/grass clippings/branches). Agent Fralick did clean up the dirt and feces after the bag broke. The recycling barrel which was curbside was empty other than one small bag. This week is not your recycling week last week was you are an orange week, we are currently in a white week. As for the trash when Agent Fralick went out to the residence around 2:30 there was no trash there other than a small white plastic bag that is filled to the brim with more animal feces. Whoever you spoke to at WM corporate who may have stated "recycling goes in the trash anyways" is incorrect. WM does not put recycling in with the trash seeing as though trash is far more expensive to dispose of than recycling. Again if you are ever missed for any reason please contact the Board of Health office @ 781-897-5920 and we will get the issue resolved as soon as possible.

MDoherty, thank you for your concern, but you are wrong on several points. First, our yard waste bags were NOT filled with dirt and dog feces. They were filled with branches, leaves, and dead plants from our huge summer garden. These plants surely had small amounts of dirt amongst them, however, the bags were not "filled" with dirt, and I can assure you they most likely broke only because they have been sitting on the curb for two weeks, and we all know how much hard rain we've had within that time frame. Had they been picked up when they were supposed to, the bags were fresh and would not have broke. They were also not over-filled; we only fill our yard waste bags to the "fill here" line marked on the bags from Lowes. Second, I am fully aware that my address is an orange week for recycling. Had you read my original complaint, you would see that our recycling was not picked up LAST week (which was an orange week), and even though we called within 48 hours (the number which you gave me), it was still not picked up, and it took this long to get the issue dealt with. There was only one bag in the bin, but to be frank, the amount of bags should not matter as the point is that it was never picked up when it was supposed to be. We have two recycling bins: one of which was filled to the rim and was actually taken last week, the other which only had one overflow bag and was not taken. Third, as for the trash, there is one regular sized trash bag still at the curb which contains trash, as well as scoopings from our cat litter boxes (which the litter is decomposable). We have never in three plus years had a problem with that being taken before at this residence. If not the trash, I am not sure how else we are supposed to dispose of that. I am reopening this issue until the trash is taken. Thank you.

Update for SeeClickFix followers who are interested: We got nowhere with calling the Mayor's office. My husband spoke briefly with the assistant who only transferred him to BOH. Speaking to BOH also lead nowhere, my husband says the number was "useless." No information from either party about the issue related to recycling, and BOH was only fixated on speaking about a non-existent issue on yard waste. BOH also told my husband to put the remaining bag that WM left at the curb with our regular trash on pickup day, even though that's what we did yesterday. Disappointed in this whole situation and still left with no answers. Going to be wary to put our recycling out next week...

After arriving home today, I see the bag of trash has been picked up. However, I also see that our gate has been closed, which we leave open for a reason. The cement on the ground is uneven and especially swells during colder weather, and thus the gate is hard to move back and forth. I, myself, am not able to move the gate back open all the way now; hopefully my husband will when he arrives home. I've also noticed my recycling barrel has been moved and is now filled with dirt and cat litter. After speaking with my neighbors, I've learned they were witness to city workers today picking up the trash bag. Whomever picked up the bag trespassed on my property to retrieve the barrel and dumped some litter from our trash bag into it, as well as dirt which they swept off the street. I would like to reiterate this is our RECYCLING barrel, which we keep at the deep end of our house, not out front, so it was trespassed to get to. My neighbor said whoever was here to do that closed our gate, for whatever reason. I am completely appalled at how the city has handled this issue and the complete lack of respect for those who picked up the missed trash. I have half a mind to take the dirt and dump it back into the city street, but we'll instead have to put it in a small trash bag and hope it gets picked up next time. Unbelievable. I hope the city workers who did this are reprimanded. And to think it's not even winter yet, when WM is at their worst.

I would also just like to take a moment here and post this picture of the trash and recycling calendar, printed, and magnetized to our fridge, since the city seems to keep reiterating when pickup days are as if we don't already know.

As I mentioned earlier in my post! The Board of Health can't do anything I again will mention that I had an issue over the winter and they have no power to do a thing! Almost a useless department for the city of Woburn!
