Description

The pedestrian, or southerly side, of the Manhattan Bridge is not clearly marked. Bicyclists are starting to ride on it at high speed and there have been several near collisions recently. The pedestrian side needs better marking that it is for pedestrians only.

The sign at the Brooklyn entrance had been replaced but there is still insufficient markings to let cyclists know they shouldn't be riding on the pedestrian path.

Emails to NYC DOE have gone unanswered. The problem is as bad as ever. One sign had been replaced but it's high up and out of sight. Someone is going to get seriously injured.

Situation is worse because now there are motorized scooters as well. This pedestrian path needs signage and enforcement to let cyclists know the other side is for them.

In September, I received a letter from the DOT saying they agreed with the assessment and would replace / install signage. To date, nothing has changed.
