Description
The SeeClickFix menu does not allow reporting ANY Lighting concern.
This is the message you get:
"Organization does not accept requests for this category. Please see any additional details below."
Then listed below is the web address for the PSE&G Streetlight Outages web page. No contact information for Jersey City is offered.
There is NO WAY to alert Jersey City of lighting problems at pedestrian walkways around construction sites, streetlights that have been removed, or streetlights that are needed.
In December, after SeeClickFix stopped accepting streetlighting issues, I reported a lighting problem in the pedestrian walkway next to the 10 Journal Square construction site as a Sidewalk Defect:
https://seeclickfix.com/issues/15706865
This landed in the RRC and went nowhere for 6 weeks until Althea acknowledged it
Here are three more examples:
The new block of Central Ave. between Hoboken and Newark has NO street lighting. Three new streetlights were installed 3 years ago. As a result of the construction at 626 Newark, PSE&G removed two poles and the 3rd is not lit at night.
Pole #69392 at 620 Pavonia Ave. used to have a streetlight that illuminated the mid-block pedestrian crossing. It was evidently removed as part of the construction in the area and/or PSE&G work.
Pole # 62389 at 332 Baldwin Ave. near Washburn St. needs a new streetlight to be installed.. The only other light is at the other end of the block near Court House Pl.
HOW CAN ISSUES LIKE THESE BE REPORTED ?
SeeClickFix needs to modify the menu for lighting to add these options.

For issues with existing lighting, it makes no sense for us to play the middle man to enter it into the PSE&G, just like everyone else. That is why there is no lighting request anymore.
Essentially it doesn't make sense to play the very slow middle person when the resident is the expert and can get direct answers. It would just go back to 6 weeks to even acknowledge when I have 971 requests now.
It's not an excuse, it is sadly a reality that we are constantly understaffed. Once I get all this backlog up to date and manageable, maybe the answer would be different.
For the request of new lighting, Pedestrian Safety Study. I'm not a fan of that category, but it is a matter of pedestrian safety... Also put lights not in the PSE&G map in Pedestrian Safety.
Baldwin and Washburn is already covered. More lighting on Baldwin from the intersection of Washburn to 139 has been requested months ago and we are working on it.
The categories aren't great, but it is complicated and adding too many categories is too onerous for the user that just needs a simple system.
Does this make sense?

I'm assuming that I did not make sense! Let me know if you have other ideas.

Althea,
Your comments make sense.
Should I report the removed streetlight on Pole #69392 at 620 Pavonia Ave. to PSE&G?

It thought Pole # 62389 at 332 Baldwin Ave. near Washburn St. needs a new streetlight to be installed.
It turns out that there was a streetlight on the OLD Pole # 62389 in July 2018.

After PSE&G installed the taller poles for their 69 KV network, they failed to move the streetlight to the NEW Pole # 62389.
