The whole idea of “a park” has been abandoned
—it’s nothing but a parking lot now and a place where people drop unwanted trash.

Yes the park idea was abandoned with the planters. The waldo garden has potential to beautify that area, however their lack of leadership is concerning.

This is a warm weather pop up park. The community has expressed that they want this for the coming season. The RRC has contacted the Office of Innovation and we are following up. Thank you.

The community shouldn’t have to “express that we want this for the coming season.” It was brought forth as a pop up park and any reasonable individual would assume that it would be a pop up park every spring, summer and fall.

Understood, but the old director left and there was a long period of time before a new person was hired. Now that Innovation exists under a new Department and a new director dedicated to open space. These spaces are different that our regular parks, which get regular attention.

We will be creating a process and policy so that these spaces never fall through the cracks again.

DPW - Buildings & Streets went and drilled holes in the planters for drainage as soon as we asked them for help.

These pop-up parks are under the Division of Innovation in the Department of Infrastructure. Right now our Division Director, Dawn Giambalvo, is looking to reach out to the Waldo community garden to see if the City can partner up with them for maintaining the park and reporting issues.

Please let me know if the planter issue has been resolved as far as drainage.
