Description
I have lived here since 2009. In that entire time, our basement and yard has been dry. Last summer, lower parts of my yard became saturated with water. This has gotten worse over the winter, and now my entire side yard and the lower ½ of my backyard are a wetland. I have a continuous stream of water running out of my garage and yard and down the block. Days after a rainstorm, this persists. My basement is showing efflorescence.
I’ve paid for the water company to test the water, and it is ground water. Contractors have said we need to identify the source of water—it isn’t just rainfall.
My immediate neighbor is suffering similar issues. Other people in the neighborhood have saturated and even flooded yards.
I called the town engineering office to ask about maintenance of a drain in between my neighbor’s yard and mine—but apparently there isn’t record it exists (despite flowing directly into a storm drain).
We need the city to address the source of the water and maintain or expand drainage systems in the area.
