So true including trucks idling all night in front of homes. The trucks sits all night with the driver sitting in front of the homes just idling the trucks at night . They do not move sometimes until 6am. Besides noise pollution it's a health concern

Excuse me Jeremy, it seems like this issue is not being addressed and violations continue.

This is a JCMUA project and they do not seem to have updated this issue yet. Let me find the permit and see what it says.

Also let me see if I can get a timeline.

It’s currently past 11pm on a school/work night and there is loud drilling going on as I type. My kids can’t even go to sleep right now. How is this ok? Why can’t this be done during the day???

I understand that the noise from the contractors can be disruptive. However, please note that they cannot control when they make noise, especially when they encounter rock that requires drilling, cutting, or hammering. Also, the idling noise that you hear is from the excavators and generators that run to power the lights, which are necessary for the contractors to proceed with the sewer replacement. They try to limit the noise as much as possible, however, it is difficult to do since the work requires heavy machinery.

No disrespect to you Darrin but thats nonsense that they told you. The idling was also done from trucks that was parked in front of my home and others during the night. Lights were used down the street almost 2 block from where the trucks were parked.Since my complaints and others the idling of the trucks have cut down but if it starts up again be aware I will definitely video tape the problem.I understand progress must take place but responsibility and respect must be given to the community. We are the Taxpayers and this Company is not showing any responsibility or respect towards us.

Also ,Darrin when is the deadline for this project to end. In December 2023 notification was given to homeowners and tenants this project was to start 1/24 and end by 1/24 we are now in the middle of 2/24 no further notice was given. This a working class community with children that attend school and elderly people that live here.Therefore ,some consideration should be given to find a solution for noise control particularly at night
This problem is occurring 7 days a week, 24 hrs a day. I am sure Darrin you or any of your family would not like to live under this conditions .

Can a correspondence be sent out to the affected residential neighborhoods as many are not on this form of communication? The residents just want some transparency, background, context and plan. Thank you. This project started in 2022.We were told it was finished. Then it started again 2023,again was told everything was completed. Now ,again 2024 in the same area with closed roads,parking problems for residents and noise during the night with lights flashing into homes all night. With no Communication

Darren, I understand drilling needs to be done and that's not the issue. The problem is when its done past a certain hour. Especially 11pm, 1am, and/or 3am.

I apologize for the delayed response. However, I wanted to ensure that the following is as accurate as possible. Per the community meeting from 4/20/2024, the 24/7 operation will end in two weeks. There will be another community meeting in May.

Today 4/24/24 concerning the construction of Garfield/Fulton Ave water again was shut down with no notice. A manager who is African American stated a notice was given out when I stated no it was not then he proceeded to say it was a accident. This the nonsense that is still going on .Before this a loud boom occured from their digging machine which shook all my windows in my home.Also they are shutting the water off at night with no notices to the community or your office since no notice is given.Again where is the respect for this community. This construction has been going on for 3yrs on and off

i believe there are two different things going on. The City and the JCMUA received an emergency shut down notice from the water distribution company, Veolia, not related to the scheduled work being done along Garfield.

The notice came in at 10:46 and the anticipated shut down time is until 1:30. Hopefully it will be up soon.

Veolia said they sent out a social media alert and I have attached a screen shot of the alert the City received. If you are not signed up for Veolia alerts (through your account) I suggest you do as soon as possible. PSE&G has an alert system too.

For the turning off at night, this will need to be researched. I only show Carteret on Monday 2-6pm and the rest of the week was up in the Heights on Cambridge and South st.

My understanding is that the water repair was made and the water is back on. If this is not true, please let me know. If it is true, it sounds like this was just one of many issues and let us know what you are requesting.

Notices were issued to the affected properties. Please refer to the attached photo. The contractor completed the 8" water main repair on 4/24/2024 at 2:39 PM.

How could notice be given if we in the area was told the hit a water main pipe again . This was also confirmed by your agency and other cit y agencies it was an accident .Also several others were outside asking the construction crew what happened to the water.If notices were given out not many people received them. Also ,today 4/25/24 again the construction crew accidentally hit a main gas pipe. PSEG came to my home and others to check the gas in our home . The smell of gas was extremely strong outside and around my home. How long are we to be patient?

Also on 4/24/24 water did not come back on in my home until 3:25 pm. because I had to notify the city of JC when water was restored
