Description
Could something be done to increase safety on crosswalks between the sides of Johnston Ave on the intersection with Pine St? Currently, there are two crosswalks; the east one has been blocked by the construction team with large plastic blocks; the west one is walkable, but its paint has faded and is hardly visible, especially at night. You know it's a crosswalk because it still has white markings close to the curbs. Additionally, there is no traffic sign warning about the crosswalk, and because it's on a vast straight stretch of the road, drivers like to push the gas pedal. The worst is after sunset, as the street lights are relatively dim, and people are hardly visible on these crosswalks. Daily, I see pedestrians running through the crosswalk for safety, cars honking at pedestrians, or drivers overtaking pedestrians on the other side of the road.
If the city could look into this intersection and do anything to increase people's safety, it would mean a ton for the community.
