After observation of the intersection, it was seen that buckets were placed to restrict parking next to the staff parking lot driveway with orange flags placed for pedestrians to use while crossing to increase visibility. Currently there are multiple design concepts being reviewed from the company Traffic Patterns that look to implement future traffic calming measures along Laurel Avenue. Possible designs for this portion include crosswalks, stop signs, and an extended drop off zone next to the staff parking lot driveway. These measures would increase visibility for pedestrians crossing at this portion of Laurel Avenue and will be considered in the future. Thank you for concern in improving traffic safety in the City of Millbrae.

Thank you for the detailed update! We appreciate the research into this busy area that affects school, baseball, and all neighborhood families. The above options sound like a great improvement to pedestrians safety. The Green Hills community is really supportive of a crosswalk. For a local comparison, nearby school St. Dunstan has a crosswalk on a hill on Broadway. The no-parking buckets have been effective for restricting cars so maybe save staff time for implementing other measures in the area. We appreciate MPW's hard work!
