Description
The backhoe did a great job on the corner of N Pine & Essex, but, unfortunately, the operator was unaware that there is a hydrant next to the light pole. He dumped a major load onto the hydrant leaving it under a mountain of snow. We have been trying to keep the hydrant exposed, but it is now a job for a machine to remove the mountaintop. We will be glad to clear the hydrant once it becomes feasible for a shoveler to accomplish.

I understand that there is a law making it the homeowner's duty to clear the sidewalks, but, when the homeowner has done that duty, it seems unfair to throw road snow onto the cleared sidewalk and leave it to the homeowner's tired back. It is also unfair to pedestrians who now have to walk in the street to avoid the blockages.
The city has done a great job clearing Essex St, and I don't want to detract from that, but could some effort be made to consider sidewalks, crosswalks, hydrants, and the tired homeowners' backs?
