Just so I'm clear, it totally makes sense to have SOMETHING there to keep cars from driving down the path. If it needs to be a planter, maybe it can be a smaller one so you can still easily get past on a bike with a trailer, or a cargo bike?

Yes, we're working on it. There can be no obstruction in the travel lane, but we're hoping to nudge the planter out of the crosswalk, put a no vehicles allowed sign either on it, in it or near it. This is no different really than any other bike path/road intersection. If people access the path with a vehicle they will be subject to ticket or police call. Everyday people on bikes run into obstructions on or near the path. This exchange has several different dept's that require access to this space. Parks will communicate our final version with our other city partners, but things get done without our knowledge sometimes... ~Parks
