Description
I am, PLEASE, requesting flashing lights & cross walk signs in front of Pioneer High School. There are NO school zone signs or restricted speed limit signs in front of the school. Every morning (in the pitch black, 7:20 - 7:40 AM) and every afternoon, I watch kids and a couple of faculty members dodge traffic and risk their lives to cross Stadium. Most Drivers do NOT slow down, barely stop, and are usually speeding through the school zone. This stresses me out as a parent and my child is NOT even one that has to cross there. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that these kids are at so much risk of being hit by a car just trying to get to school.
Also, WHY CAN THERE NOT BE A FLASHING CROSS WALK there, which is used every day, multiple times; when there is one that is in front of the U/M golf course that is only used mostly on football Saturdays? (Maybe 5/6 times in the Fall.)
PLEASE, PLEASE consider this request and take the lives of these students/faculty into consideration.
I have called the police several times to report the speeding and ask someone to come out and monitor the situation at least in the morning when it is dark.
I have not seen anyone there yet, nor have I received any follow-up from anyone.
Please feel free to contact me regarding this situation.

Thank you for sharing your concerns about this location. This section of Stadium is slated to be part of a reconstruction project that is scheduled to begin in summer 2016. As part of this process, which has already begun, crosswalks will be analyzed to determine if additional measures are warranted. For more information, please visit the Stadium Blvd Road Reconstruction project page: http://www.a2gov.org/departments/engineering/Pages/Stadium-Blvd-Road-Reconstruction-Project.aspx
In addition, the Pedestrian Safety and Access Task Force is taking a systematic look at these issues and will be formulating recommendations for city council. We would encourage you to share your experience with them as well. http://www.a2gov.org/departments/systems-planning/Transportation/Pages/Pedestrian-Safety-and-Access-Task-Force.aspx

Yeah, well Summer 2016 doesn't help the kids/faculty now!!!!!
I guess it will take someone getting hit and very badly injured or God forbid killed.
I can not believe that it takes that much money or effort to put up speed limit/school zone signs.
Thanks for caring so much about this issue to simple "closed the issue."
Unless there has been something done to this crosswalk...i.e. at least school zone/speed limit signage to assist pedestrians, this issue IS NOT CLOSED!!!! I have not been by there this afternoon to "verify that the problem has been resolved or to see if ANY work was performed."
I know these kids are High Schoolers and should be able to cross the street, but THERE NEEDS TO BE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS at least until "the Summer of 2016." A YEAR AND A HALF WAIT IS NOT, AND I REPEAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!
Can the police be asked to monitor this area at random days during the morning and afternoon; and/or put up the speed monitoring units that inform drivers of their speed?????
AGAIN....A year and a half wait for anything to be done is ridiculous!!
Sincerely,
A very, very concerned parent and member of the property tax paying residents!!

I called & left a message for Graydon Kraphol (rep. For this district) and never heard a single word from him. I can't believe he couldn't be bothered to even return my call. 😠😠

Yes, WHY is this being closed again and nothing has changed or been FIXED?
Kids are still putting their lives in jeopardy trying to get to school crossing Stadium at this poorly marked crosswalk.
So since school is almost over, y'all decided it doesn't need to be fixed?????
The really bad part is that I've heard that this section of Stadium in front of Pioneer has been dropped from the massive reconstruction of Stadium Blvd. due to lack of funds.
Sooooo, this "A2Fixit" request that was started almost 2 years ago and which was slated to be FIXED by this 2016 Summer Stadium reconstruction plan according to this site, is "CLOSED?
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!
And please do NOT delete my comments as someone has done on 2 different "A2Fixit" requests that were opened by 2 different concerned citizens regarding this same crosswalk.
We really would like to know WHEN this dangerous crosswalk will be "FIXED."
We respectfully ask for answers, NOT just acknowledgment.
