Dear Oaklander, Thank you for taking the time to report a pothole or other needed street repair to the City of Oakland Department of Transportation, or OakDOT. Our next step with your request will be to review it and assign it a priority level so that we can respond as promptly and appropriately as we can to the thousands of requests we receive each year. Your input into this process is critical, as we count on our community to be our eyes and ears as new issues arise or existing issues change. OAK311 is our one-stop shop for public maintenance requests, and it's the best method we have for logging, tracking, and prioritizing requests like yours. We’d like also to take this opportunity to share some information with you about how we’re taking on the bigger task of improving all Oakland streets – including fully repaving streets. In general, for our 3-Year Paving Plan (adopted in mid-2019) we prioritized local streets based on the Pavement Condition Index (https://oakgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=8802147bcb4b42bfb21846e36205fe4d), working generally from the worst streets next to schools, to the worst streets otherwise, until our budget target was met. With this plan, we will be repaving more than 70 miles of local streets in three years. This is a massive increase in funding dedicated to local streets: in the past ten years we averaged just under 3 miles of local streets paving per year. Unfortunately, even with this aggressive move to address local street conditions, we are not able to prioritize every one of the 300+ local street miles that are good candidates for repaving.   It is so bad on this stretch of road. Cars swerve to avoid, near collisions every morning that I drive through here.

  Geting worse now...
  Huge and deep pothole in left lane of 36th in the1150 block. Please fill it, hard to see, impossible to see if there's rain.

  The city has patched some of these. However the work quality was negligent; holes were left in the patches which are now causing the patches to deteriorate again. :-/.
