Thank you for reporting your concern to the City of Medford via SeeClickFix.
The City of Medford created a couple of concepts to traffic calm the intersection/street of Johnston Ave (at Grove), based on a previous SeeClickFix inquiry as well as some other feedback received.
The intent is to improve a one way street that is primarily 24 feet wide but widens to ~135 feet wide at Grove. The paint better defines where vehicles should be positioned to Stop (centered, opposite Sagamore), while also providing better sightlines (in both directions). The definition on Grove (right edge line) also helps define, narrow the Grove St NB lane.
The traffic delineator cones are used to help define, reinforce, communicate the new pattern (to drivers). They were in place for ~a week to help with the above. The Stop will remain. The two remaining cones were left to further emphasize the need for all vehicles (expect local access to local driveways and on-street parking) to veer left and stop at the centered stop line.
We hope this helps explain the intent and look forward to continue to work with he community on this or other areas wanting improvements.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Todd Blake
