Children aren’t the only people this affects. A waste and recycling bin on this corner would also help reduce anthropogenic litter in this area near the MARTA station.

Just a bit more info, to make sure we're on the same page, the pedestrian crossing buttons do seem to work to trigger the traffic lights to change, but the pedestrian signal doesn't change. It still says don't walk even when the light going that direction changes to green. Some kids will wait there indefinitely if the crossing guards don't prompt them. I was also almost hit by a left turning car at this intersection, and the driver has the gumption to stop his car afterwards and yell at me for crossing in the crosswalk when the pedestrian signal said not to walk. He thought that gave him the right to run over pedestrians. So this is a safety issue.
